The SMTP Firewall You Don't Have to Manage

Our SMTP Relay (firewall) service cuts down on the amount of junk mail your mailserver has to deal with, because we block it for you.

This service is ideal for larger organisations with their own in-house mail servers.  It provides your organisation with a virus-filtered & spam-reduced mail feed, protecting your server and your users.

How it works

We configure our mailserver to accept email for your domain(s).  We require that you supply us with a list of the email addresses (aliases) you wish to have, and the coresponding mailbox addresses on your server.  You can have as many aliases as you like for each mailbox, and you can even have "wildcard" aliases (i.e. mail to anyone@yourdomain.com.au is accepted).

As each message arrives on our server it is checked to see that it matches one of your aliases, and any that don't are instantly rejected.  (This significantly reduces the amount of spam we and you have to deal with.)  Once it's accepted by our server the message is scanned for viruses and spam, and if found to be "clean" is forwarded to your mailserver.

What happens to viruses?

When we find a virus-infected mail message we will replace the infected part by a short piece of text like this one:

File: openme.doc
has been removed from this email message because it was found to
contain a copy of the 'Mal/FakeVirPk-A' computer virus.

The modified message is then either delivered, or put into the spam quarantine, or simply discarded.

What happens to spam?

If the PreciseMail Anti-Spam software determines that a message is in fact spam it stores it in a "quarantine" area. Up to 3 times a day, PreciseMail sends all users a mail message to notify them of spam which has been quarantined since the last notification message.  Your users can then retrieve any message they think has been incorrectly quarantined, or simply ignore them.
